Adding Your Information

We recommend you start by updating your existing resume. The AI can't write about what it doesn't know!

  • First, upload your existing resume. A CV will also work, or any writeup of your past experience, skills, education, and so on.
  • Next, run a resume review ("Comment On Resume") and edit according to its suggestions. For instance, add details about results you achieved at each job.
  • Upload the edited resume.
  • Then, add "Additional Background" as needed.

Finding Jobs

Now that the AI has information about you to work from, it's time to find some jobs.

  • The "Job Search Recommendations" feature is free and will match your background to different careers.
  • Remember that many job descriptions list the ideal qualifications for a candidate, but don't be deterred. Hiring managers often prioritize certain skills or experience and applicants are rarely perfect fits.

Generating Application Materials

The final step is to generate a personalized cover letter or a resume tailored to the job.

  • Once you are ready to apply to a job, click "Start Job Application."
  • Add information about the company, job title, and job description. Be sure to "Save Job Listing."
  • Pro tip: If you know the hiring manager's name, add it to the top of the job description! Your generated cover letter will address them directly.
  • After that, select "Custom Cover Letter" or "Custom Resume."
  • The AI can take a minute to write. If you leave the page (e.g. to start another application), your document will be waiting for you when you return.
  • REVIEW your cover letters and resumes before applying - AIs can make mistakes.

Some find the cover letters and resumes excellent as they are, but others prefer to borrow bits and pieces to write their own. Either way, it will speed up the process.

English is the only officially supported language at this time. We cannot guarantee the results of using Write it Right with resumes, jobs, etc. in any other language.
